Jack London’s “The Call of the Wild”
The Call of the Wild is American writer Jack London’s masterpiece. Published in nineteen-oh-three, it tells the story of Buck, a pampered dog who lives in California. One day, Buck is stolen from his owner, and eventually finds himself in the Yukon territory in northwestern Canada, as part of a sled dog team during the gold rush of eighteen ninety-seven. Buck endures many hardships during his journey, but he learns to survive as his primitive instincts return in the wilderness. The Call of the Wild is a classic American story of courage and character.
